FAQ

1. How many levels are there in this language?

Japanese Language has five levels of learning. It goes in the descending order from N5, the beginner level to N1 the advanced level.

2. How long does it take to learn this language?

The Japan Foundation has mandated the number of study hours required for achieving proficiency in each level. So, this will determine the duration of the course.
Typically, a weekend-only batch runs for 6 months and weekdays classes are doable in 2/3 months depending on the class hours.

3. Is it a very difficult language to learn?

This is a very subjective question; however, we will try it answer it as well as we can.  The Japanese Language is very close to our Tamil/ any Dravidian language and the grammar pattern is very similar. So, the only thing to learn or memorize is the alphabet and vocabulary and if one can manage it, Japanese is quite an easy language.

4. Is there an age limit?

Anyone over the age of 8 can join us and we don’t have an upper age limit. We have had learners as old as 72. So, if you have the interest, we are open to having you on board.

5. Can young children learn?

Yes. We have specific courses for children where the curriculum is less intense and learning is completely activity based. Young learners can opt for such courses.

6. I don’t know Tamil; can I still learn at your institute? Is teaching done only in Tamil?

Absolutely. We have many non-Tamil speaking students. So teaching is done keeping this in mind.

7. What is the JLPT exam?

JLPT stands for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. It is a certification test conducted by the Government of Japan.
This exam is conducted twice a year. A student who clears JLPT would receive a certificate from Japan and this would be valid for life

8. What is NAT exam?

Nihongo Admission Test is very much like the JLPT test. It is also a certification exam. However, it is conducted every two months.

9. Do you help in finding jobs?

Yes. We provide regular information from time-time on the vacancies available and help in Interview preparation. Our Head office, ABK AOTS DOSOKAI, TN center conducts many interviews drives thereby creating a window of opportunities for job seekers and companies looking for people.

10. I can’t come directly, are there online classes?

Yes. We have comprehensive online classes. You can get back to us for further details.

11. My job requires me to travel frequently, so how can I learn?

We have online classes and also options to plug in remotely to an existing direct session. So, your (occasional) travel should not be an Issue.

12. Can I learn two levels at once?

Yes, you can use our weekday / Fastrack option to do two levels at a time.

13. How quickly can I learn?

The study hours are mandated by Japan Foundation. However, the speed at which one can learn purely depends on the individual. We have students who have completed even three levels in six months.

14. Is the language similar to Tamil?

Yes. Grammar patterns are very similar to Tamil.

15. Can we learn in English?

Yes of course. It is just that the sentence sequence is different from English and we have to always remember this rule when we learn the language in English. Otherwise, it is totally possible to learn this via English.

16. I am looking at higher studies opportunity. Can I go there to japan to study further?

Yes. There are lots of good Universities in Japan and one can definitely explore this option.

17. Do we get scholarships?

Yes. While there are lots of scholarship opportunities, the details are specific to every course or university.
